S3E04 - "The Baby"
Manage episode 303858601 series 2799286
WELCOME BACK!
Remember last season when Art and his lovely wife Carmen discovered they were pregnant?? In the world of WKRP, it must be nine months later!! Carmen is going to have a baby!!
After the cold open, the whole gang adjourns to a really COOL hospital set. It's so cool, this is where they will spend the rest of the episode. Not only are they doing this one without a radio station, they're also doing it without an audience. You can't have elaborate sets like these without sacrifice! Just how was WKRP able to afford such a cool set? Cancelled soap? Ahhh...gotcha!
Johnny was herbally meditating when Travis called him down to the hospital. His recreational endeavors may be why he's so open to a discussion of the afterlife with a sweet little old lady who goes by the awkward name of "Peggy Sue." And if you knew Peggy Sue like Johnny knows Peggy Sue...well, you'll just have to push 'play' and watch the episode!!
Art screws up his courage and the whole gang is there to welcome...well, we don't get a name. For that matter we also don't a gender, eye color or a length/weight. We're also curious as to the whereabouts of Mama Carlson. Maybe she's staying home with Little Arthur. So are Carmen's folks no longer with us? Good thing Art is so close with the gang at the station or he'd be all alone at the hospital. Push 'play' to experience the miracle of podcasting.
WATCH ALONG DETAILS...
[Want to watch along with us? It's a blast!! We highly recommend the 'Shout Factory' boxed DVD set of the entire WKRP series. For reasons you'll have to listen to in the "Prolog" episode, all streaming versions of the original "WKRP in Cincinnati" have had the original music cues removed. Generic music beds and stings were used in place of the original music for the syndicated version of the series. 'Shout Factory' has been able to restore an estimated 85% of all WKRP music cues to the original "as-aired" content for their DVD release. They've also restored scenes that had been cut to shorten episodes for syndication. The original eps ran 25 minutes. The syndication eps were shortened to 22 minutes. Over 88 episodes that's more than four hours of lost content, including the performance by "Detective" at the end of "Hoodlum Rock." Get the COMPLETE series...get the Shout Factory DVDs. The Shout Factory complete series box has a release date of 2014. All individual seasons of Shout Factory disks were released starting in 2015.]
