In a great scene when Gandalf is standing on the bridge with the old creature where he slams his staff down to stop it from getting to his friends who are together on the journey, there is a subtle change in the dialogue during the movie version. In the movie, the phrase is, “You shall not pass!” That is a really epic moment for those that remember.
However, in the original book, that is not what Gandalf the wizard says. In the movie, he says, “You shall not pass!” Instead of the original: “You cannot pass!”
That may sound the same, but go with me on a quick journey to see the difference.
