Wait… What did you just say?
Did I hear you correctly?

Thank you for calling GIH where we instigate growth one call at a time where we utilize antiquated technology to deliver 3-minute leadership lessons every week day! This is message #169 and I am Aaron Havens.

Louise Hay has an incredible quote. “You’ve been criticizing yourself for years and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.”

Are you creating a dialogue that is adverse to the outcome you want?

I’m not a computer programmer…. I did however, out of curiosity, dive deep into the ideas behind computer programming. Something crazy was addressed. In computer programming, the error of “putting bad data in and bad data will come out” is commonly referred to as “garbage in, garbage out” (GIGO), meaning that if you provide poor quality or incorrect input data to a program, the output will also be poor or incorrect, reflecting the quality of the initial data.

No way. Not in our computers. Not in our minds. Not in our lives. Right?!!

Here are a couple steps to prevent GIGO:

  • Input validation: Use checks to ensure data is in the expected format and range before using it in calculations. ?What filters do you have in place to make sure you are allowing good and accurate data to enter your life?

  • Data cleaning: Clean up raw data to remove errors, inconsistencies, and duplicates before processing. ?What self reflective steps and evaluations do you have in place to clean up errors or hurts or trauma in your life?

  • Error handling: Implement mechanisms to gracefully handle unexpected data and provide informative error messages to the user. ?How do you process the unexpected?

I know we are not computers. Our minds are sharper. We have feelings and experiences and emotions. We are smarter than AI. We can create and develop and love and do.

So my friends. Are you creating a dialogue that is adverse to the outcome you want? Time to delete that bad GIGO!

Thanks for calling in today. Tune in tomorrow for a fresh new topic. At the sound of the beep, what Garbage In Garbage Out is apparent in your life? Are you ok with the outcomes? If not, what are you willing to do to change?
