“In my experience, working with the IT department, they absolutely have a culture, it’s just different. It’s just a little bit different than even the other departments within an organization. And part of that is common interests. Culture is all about relationships. It’s all about how we communicate with one another and one of the things that you look at within an organization is what are those dynamics that make up those relationships? So, we’re all looking to belong, we’re all looking to feel trust, and one of the most fundamental aspects of belonging is the feeling of sameness. So people within the IT department have a common affinity with one another because they’re talking the same language. In fact, that’s one of the aspects that building culture has. is identifying what are the common values?”
