Actress Eva Green has blamed her "French ways" for offensive text messages while filming a movie. The 42-year-old Frenchwoman apologized in front of a London court on Monday for, among other things, calling the director and producer "weak" and "stupid" and accusing them of making a cheap "B-shit film". The film ultimately never materialized.
This was done with emotion, said the former Bond girl from "Casino Royale" from 2006. Sometimes her "French style" gets away with her: "Then, in the exuberance of feelings, I say things that I don't mean at all." Of course, the director and producer are "not weak and stupid".
Green was slated to star in the sci-fi film A Patriot, but filming was canceled in 2019. She then sued the British production company White Lantern Films for payment of her fee of one million dollars (918,000 euros).
The company responded with a counterclaim, accusing the actress of causing the project to fail by making "unreasonable demands." In support, White Lantern cites WhatsApp messages in which Green badmouthed the production and the team.
Green told the court on Monday that she signed for A Patriot in 2018 because she "fell in love" with the project, which was supposed to be about climate change. However, as filming progressed, she became increasingly concerned that the film would go bad and harm her career. She "doesn't care" about the money, she emphasized. "I live to make good films."
