In this episode Ruth Harley talks about the need for us to consider where our power is and how we use it as individuals and as churches. She is the co-author (with Al Barrett) of “Being Interrupted: Reimagining the Church’s Mission from the Outside, In”, which challenges the status quo and encourages us to reconsider how we do church.

Previously, she was a youth and children’s minister, with a particular interest in inter-generational church and is currently training at The Queen’s Foundation in Birmingham to be a priest in the Church of England.

During the interview she mentions the following:

Ruth’s details:
Email: ruth.v.harley@gmail.com
Twitter: @ruth_hw
Blog: becausegodislove.wordpress.com

Also, during October-November 2020 Al and Ruth, along with Sharon Prentis (a former RGP interviewee – see episode 8 from May 2020), led a series of conversations around “Being Interrupted”, as part of HeartEdge’s ‘Living God’s Future Now’ online festival. Recordings can be found on the HeartEdge Facebook page. They are hoping to do some more sessions in 2021, focusing on some of the areas they didn’t get round to covering in the book…

RGP History
Alison & Grace were having a conversation in the summer of 2019 about podcasts and they weren't aware of any at the time that spoke to their context, so they decided to set one up. You can hear more about their thinking about the podcast on the Introductions episode.

Grace & Alison worked on the podcast together for the first year but Grace had other commitments that meant she had to give the podcast up, so from February 2021 the podcast is carrying on without her. We are still hoping to have new podcast co-hosts, maybe even a team. Could it be you? Do get in touch.

If you have any comments, please let us know at RecoveringGodPodcast@gmail.com.

With thanks to Dan Lawrence who wrote and performed our tune & Lawrence Dinh who produced it.

The Recovering God Podcast has been in existence since the summer of 2019. The team has changed over those years but we're delighted to still be offering relevant discussions covering the broad topics of feminism and the Christian faith!
