In the Beginning was the End, Part 5

We’ve covered a lot of ground over the last several weeks. I hope I have been able to make a case that everything we need to understand about the end, can be found in the beginning. Four times in the book of Revelation Jesus declares Himself to be the Alpha and Omega.

Revelation 1

8"I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."

Jesus wants us to see that He is present in the entire storyline of our faith. He doesn’t show up somewhere in the middle, first appearing in the New Testament. He was there in the beginning, creating all things that have been made. He was there with God, and is God! He wants for us to find Him throughout the scriptures. What is our theology? Simply Jesus.

I. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FLOOD

A. God blesses Noah, and reiterates the same commands given to Adam and Eve.

Genesis 9

1And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth…

B. And God makes covenant with Noah and his sons and also the earth itself.

13I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

C. So far so good! We’re off to a good start. But it doesn’t take long for something sinister to enter in…

18The sons of Noah who went forth from the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.) 19These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the people of the whole earth were dispersed.

20Noah began to be a man of the soil, and he planted a vineyard. 21He drank of the wine and became drunk and lay uncovered in his tent. 22And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father and told his two brothers outside. 23Then Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it on both their shoulders, and walked backward and covered the nakedness of their father. Their faces were turned backward, and they did not see their father's nakedness. 24When Noah awoke from his wine and knew what his youngest son had done to him, 25he said,

"Cursed be Canaan;

a servant of servants shall he be to his brothers."

26He also said,

"Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem;

and let Canaan be his servant.

27 May God enlarge Japheth,

and let him dwell in the tents of Shem,

and let Canaan be his servant."

28After the flood Noah lived 350 years. 29All the days of Noah were 950 years, and he died.

D. We can’t be certain about all that happened here. And rather than speculate on what isn’t provided in the text, let’s look at what is. Something was not right with Ham. Whatever it was that he exactly did, it received a curse in response. But the curse didn’t land on him, it landed rather on his fourth son, Canaan. It’s impossible to determine without conjecture why Canaan receives the brunt of punishment for his father’s actions, but if we can look forward at Canaan’s line we can see that it is marked with trouble from direct rebellion against God to possibly or probably even corrupted DNA.

E. The seeds of rebellion were already beginning to bud.

Genesis 6

4The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.

II. ANCIENT GATES

A. I’ve already addressed this, but remember that our Messiah comes from the line of Shem. Starting even as early as Abram/Abraham there is a call to not intermarry with the other lines of Noah, namely the line of Ham. This makes sense considering what was at stake. Our Messiah would come from the “seed of the woman.”

B. Most of the Old Testament accounts of giants and wars against Israel, if not all, come from the line of Canaan. Israel is again and again finding herself in a fight against the “ites.” (Next time you read through the Old Testament make sure you consider that these “ites” are the descendants of Canaan. That curse was passed down. That curse was inheritable.

C. For our purposes today, we are going to look at one of Ham’s other sons, Cush. You may be surprised at all you never knew about this man. There are just a couple of verses devoted to him in our texts, but the implications are still playing out in our day.

Genesis 10

8Cush fathered Nimrod; he was the first on earth to be a mighty man. 9He was a mighty hunter before the Lord. Therefore it is said, "Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the Lord." 10The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. 11From that land he went into Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah, and 12Resen between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city.

6And the sons of Cham, Chus, and Mesrain, Phud, and Chanaan. 7And the sons of Chus, Saba, and Evila, and Sabatha, and Rhegma, and Sabathaca. And the sons of Rhegma, Saba, and Dadan. 8And Chus begot Nebrod: he began to be a giant upon the earth. 9He was a giant hunter before the Lord God; therefore they say, As Nebrod the giant hunter before the Lord. 10And the beginning of his kingdom was Babylon, and Orech, and Archad, and Chalanne, in the land of Senaar.

D. Something was happening to him genetically. He began becoming. The words used here are specifically related to DNA corruption. He was not born a nephalim, but he was able to tap into something that altered him. He began becoming a gibbor, or gibborim, a descendant of the nephalim. Nimrod tapped into something, and that something is still active today.

Genesis 11

1Now the whole earth had one language and the same words. 2And as people migrated from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there. 3And they said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly." And they had brick for stone, and bitumen for mortar. 4Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth." 5And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of man had built. 6And the Lord said, "Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them. 7Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another's speech." 8So the Lord dispersed them from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city. 9Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth. And from there the Lord dispersed them over the face of all the earth.

E. This passage is absolutely fascinating. Like most of the Old Testament, we don’t peer very deeply into the stories passed down, thinking our ancestors naïve, or worse, not very bright. But I believe we have lost much rather than evolved over the years.

F. Let’s make sure we have a good grasp of what was happening in Babylon. This was not some 4 story tower. This was not fanciful thinking. The Lord Himself declared that these people, under the leadership of Nimrod would accomplish what they were setting out to do. And what were they setting out to do? They were attempting to make a portal that would allow them to over throw God Himself, if that were possible.

"Nimrod comes from the Hebrew marad (HSN-), “to rebel.” It points to some violent and open rebellion against God. Nimrod began to be a mighty one in the earth by bold and daring deeds . His rebellion is associated with the beginning of his kingdom and suggests that his hunting and mighty deeds were related primarily to hunting men by tyranny and force . He lorded it over others, hunting and destroying all who opposed him in his despotic rule over people. This is the meaning understood by Josephus and writers of the Targums. Josephus says that Nimrod persuaded people to ascribe their happiness to him rather than God . He became a great leader, taught people to centralize, and defied God to send another flood. It is said that Nimrod hunted down wild beasts also, which were killing many people, and taught people to build walls around cities for protection against them."

III. UNDERSTANDING BABYLON

“It is almost impossible to wrap our minds around what Nimrod was building in Babel—the capital of Babylon. Alfred Edersheim states that the size of the city was one hundred to two hundred square miles. Arno C. Gaebelein describes twelve palaces, watering systems, a six hundred-foot-tall temple of the sun god that was surrounded by a four hundred-foot-tall wall that was so large the Babylonians could have chariot races on it. Was Nimrod attempting to recapture the splendor of the lost Watcher/Nephilim city? I believe he was. He was building the first New Atlantis that would reestablish the secrets of the Watchers embedded within a mystery religious system to turn men away from the Living God. And just in case God loosed judgment by a flood against his endeavors, he surrounded the entire one hundred-to two hundred-square-mile city (either ten miles times ten miles or twenty miles times twenty miles) with a wall large enough to hold back significant flood waters. Just in case the walls did not hold, the people could escape into the Tower of Babel that was 8,150 feet high."

A. Until very recently, I was often dumbfounded when I would look into ancient history. I always had the same question. How is it that so many cultures have the same story line? From the Egyptians, to the Persians, to the American Indians, to the Aztecs, etc. How is it that so many cultures have the same ideas. It all traces to the the Tower of Babel. Though the tower was never completed, the story of Nimrod spread.

B. Nimrod’s name changed from region to region, but his feats were told and retold. Nimrod goes by another name, known to be reincarnated into the Egyptian god Osiris, and the Greek god Apollo. We know the Son of Perdition (which is how Paul refers to the antichrist) will be called Apollyon, or Apollo.

C. We have these very prophesies on our National seal and the top of the Capital building. These prophecies also appear in the famous Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. You may want to spend some time studying the layout of our nation’s capital, with the Capital Dome and Washington monument and the St. Peter’s square, with its prominent dome and Egyptian phallic symbol. This can certainly be no accident! But what could it all point to?

D. The Cumae’s Sibyl’s (The Cumaean Sibyl was the priestess presiding over the Apollonian oracle at Cumae, a Greek colony located near Naples, Italy) most famous prophesy says this:

"Now the last age by Cumae’s Sibyl sung Has come and gone, and the majestic roll Of circling centuries begins anew: Justice returns, returns old Saturn’s reign, With a new breed of men sent down from heaven. Only do thou, at the boy’s birth in whom The iron shall cease, the golden race arise, Befriend him, chaste Lucina; ‘tis thine own Apollo reigns. …

"He shall receive the life of gods, and see Heroes with gods commingling, and himself Be seen of them, and with his father’s worth Reign o’er a world…

"Assume thy greatness, for the time draws nigh, Dear child of gods, great progeny of Jove [Jupiter/Zeus]! See how it totters—the world’s orbed might, Earth, and wide ocean, and the vault profound, All, see, enraptured of the coming time!"

“According to Virgil and the Cumaean Sibyl whose prophecy formed the Novus Ordo Seclorum of the Great Seal of the United States, the New World Order begins during a time of chaos when the earth and oceans are tottering, a time like today. This is when the "son" of promise arrives on earth—Apollo incarnate—a pagan savior born of "a new breed of men sent down from heaven" when "heroes" and "gods" are blended together. This sounds eerily similar to what the Watchers did during the creation of Nephilim and to what scientists are doing this century through genetic engineering of human-animal chimeras.” (Tom Horn)

E. Why in the world am I pointing this out to you on a Sunday morning? Because this wasn’t just about a tall tower. God isn’t mad about 4 story buildings. This was and is about breaking into another dimension. This Tower was not about building a 4-story building, it was about breaking into the reality of heaven without going through the door. Isn’t it amazing that men would do almost anything rather than just go through the door, which is Christ! He has made a way, but many would rather become immortal without deferring and bowing to Jesus.

IV. CURRENT EVENTS THAT YOU PROBABLY DON’T KNOW ABOUT

A. Let’s look at the EU, or European Union poster and building. Isn’t it amazing that the European Union purposely built and promoted themselves as the rebuilding of something that God came and judged? What in the world is that??

B. There’s more. Remember this is about opening ancient gates. It was never about building a high tower. It was and is about rebellion against God.

C. Did you catch that CERN is built right over the gates of Apollo?

V. WE ARE CALLING FOR ANCIENT GATES TO BE OPENED

A. Since the days of Noah, there has not been a repeat of genetic manipulation or the technology to open up ancient portals like we are seeing now. Since 1948 Israel, THE prophetic key for understanding Matthew 24, has been reestablished, and all serious Bible prophecy experts should have been sounding an alarm. This is not a drill. It’s time to wake up. Shake yourself free from everything that is entangling you. Deal with what you need to deal with. Stop messing around with sin. Stop hitting the snooze button. You need to make time with the Lord. You need to learn how to discern His voice. You need to get time in the Word acquainting yourself with the storyline of God.

B. We don’t need to be afraid of CERN. WE do need to know the times we are living in. We need to learn how to pray. CERN may be opening the door, but as the Church we also have the ability to speak to the ancient gates.

1 The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof,
