My guest Emily Blumenthal is the founder of Handbag Designer 101 and is a handbag industry expert as well as an adjunct professor in design and entrepreneurship. On top of all that, she is the best-selling author of the book titled Handbag Designer 101: Everything You Need to Know About Designing, Making and Marketing Handbags. Emily shares her inspiring story about how her career as an independent handbag designer started. She observed how women would benefit from a small purse that would allow their hands to be free when they were out at night. She designed such a purse, had them manufactured, and sold them to various boutiques. Before long, she had multiple licensing deals, with her brand being sold at Macy’s, Dillard’s and QVC. She has also been a consultant for various handbag brands. Her book includes instructions for creating 15 essential handbag styles, with easy-to-follow instructions. She even includes the inside scoop of turning your handbags into a successful business. Emily is excited about the release of her children’s book in the summer of 2025 titled Savvy Suzanna and Her Amazing Adventure in Handbags.
