As technology offers unprecedented opportunities for building alliances – and at the same time, division and rancor – The Rev. Adam Taylor is meeting the moment by working to create communities for people united in their passion for social change. This week on State of Belief, Interfaith Alliance’s weekly radio show and podcast, Adam walks us through his varied work in education, finance, and even the Obama White House, and how it led him to the Evangelical nonprofit he now leads, Sojourners.

Sojourners has been a wellspring of faith-inspired organizing and activism for over half of a century. So it’s fitting that Sojourners President Rev. Adam Taylor is also the author of the inspiring book, A More Perfect Union: A New Vision for Building the Beloved Community. He joins Rev. Paul Raushenbush, host of State of Belief, this week to discuss the work of his organization, the increasing urgency of his book’s message, and the influence that The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Congressman John Lewis had on his activism.

Earlier this month, Paul was in Florida to give a talk hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Greater Naples. Over 150 people gathered to hear his lecture, “Confronting Christian Nationalism: Advancing True Religious Freedom & Pluralism.” Floridians face some unique challenges around these issues, and Paul wraps up this week’s show with some impressions from the trip.
