A Closer Look at Mr. Rogers and his legacy with the Real Kathy Lee.If you know me, you know I love Mr. Rogers. As I was researching the history of Fred Rogers and his TV show, I realized that his show started about the same time my mom found out that she was expecting me. I guess you could say that I have been in Mr. Rogers Neighborhood from the very beginning.

Thank you to our Sponsor, CTC Math.

Mr. Rogers had an impact on an entire generation. Once I took a closer look at what made this man a legacy, I knew I had to share my findings with you.

  1. LOVE was the root of Mr. Rogers work with children.

“Deep within us – no matter who we are- there lives a feeling of wanting to be lovable, of wanting to be the kind of person that others like to be with. And the greatest thing we can do is to let people know that they are loved and capable of loving”

– Fred Rogers

  1. Mr. Rogers understood children.

  • He studied child development and the brain research behind his field.
  • He was willing to go out of the box to reach a child.
  • The child determined the approach.

  1. Mr. Rogers Knew Learning Involved Feelings.

What Do You Do with the Mad You Feel?

What do you do with the mad that you feel

When you feel so mad you could bite?

When the whole wide world seems oh, so wrong…

And nothing you do seems very right?

What do you do? Do you punch a bag?

Do you pound some clay or some dough?

Do you round up friends for a game of tag?

Or see how fast you go?

It’s great to be able to stop

When you’ve planned a thing that’s wrong,

And be able to do something else instead

And think this song:

I can stop when I want to

Can stop when I wish.

I can stop, stop, stop any time.

And what a good feeling to feel like this

And know that the feeling is really mine.

Know that there’s something deep inside

That helps us become what we can.

For a girl can be someday a woman

And a boy can be someday a man.
