In Episode 43 of the Virtual Velo Podcast, hosts Chris and Emma welcome the Aussie “Indoor Specialist” power couple Kate Trdin and Josh Harris.
Josh held the World Record for the Beer Mile multiple times (four beers and four laps in 4:51), won the Zwift Grand Prix Epic Points Race, finished fourth in the 2024 Zwift Games Overall Championship, and took second in the AUS Cycling Esports Nationals. It was not a subpar 2024 season.
Yet, despite his success, Kate is the esports superstar of the duo, finishing atop the podium at the 2024 AUS Cycling Esports World Championship while balancing a Master’s degree education.
They embody The Zommunique’s vision, a multi-platform model in which cycling esports would develop as a unique stand-alone discipline, and the athletes would evolve to specialize in the nuances of being a cycling esports racer.
