338. Parenting Principles: Looking at Obedience
Manage episode 453346162 series 2838097
Welcome back to the kitchen table. Obedience is a big concept in parenting. As moms, we often bring our own experiences and beliefs about obedience to the table—lessons from our past, both good and bad. But at its core, obedience is more than just behavior. It’s a reflection of our children’s need for something greater.
When our children disobey, it’s easy to feel frustrated or even offended. But 2 Timothy 2:24-26 offers a different perspective. This passage reminds us that our role as parents isn’t to wrestle with our children over obedience but to gently guide them toward truth.
Instead of taking their defiance personally, we have the opportunity to point them to Jesus. How we approach obedience matters. It's not about control but about showing them the solution—God’s love and grace.
By modeling patience and teaching with kindness, we help our children see that obedience is not just an action but a response to God’s calling in their lives.
