Surely you've heard that slavery is the cause of all of America's race issues. We've heard, ad nauseum, how slavery catalyzed the power dynamic between white and black citizens. When we see the statistics surrounding murder rates, fatherlessness, low-income, and poor schooling - it is supposedly obvious that white people have set themselves apart from their black counterparts through the ubiquitous effects of white slave owners towards black slaves. What if there is a narrative that has been disregarded that actually hurts this narrative?
