Hello, lovely moms and moms to be welcome to the bounce back podcast. This podcast is made for you, for moms or moms to be who want to thrive in their own selves as at the same time as becoming mothers, or, you know, continuing on our journey with motherhood, this is a space where we celebrate the beautiful chaos of motherhood and all the love and growth that comes with it. I am Evelyn, and I am a family photographer in Portland, Oregon, so I get to meet lots of amazing moms and moms to be and I'm a mom myself, so I get it, you know, because I've been there and I'm still there, and I'm gonna be there for a while. So today, we're diving into the roller coaster of emotions and challenges that comes with being a new parent.
Becoming a mom is one of life's biggest transitions, whether you're weeks away from meeting your baby or holding that tiny Miracle on your arms right now, it's okay to feel overwhelmed. Motherhood brings joys like no other, but it also brings deprivation, self doubt and more laundry than you have ever imagined. And guess what? That's all normal, which doesn't mean to say that we have to do it alone, or then we have to put up with all you know, by ourselves, but it is all normal. So let me just share a quick story from when I first brought my baby home, my son, Nathan, was born, and a few days after he was born, his nose got stuffed, and I was absolutely panicking about it. I thought that he wouldn't be able to breathe. So we were living in the UK at the time, and I called the line that they gave us, you know, the midwife line. And I was like, my baby, please help me. My baby can't breathe. And the midwife is like, okay, is he in blue? And I was like, No, of course not. And she's like, then he can breathe. So let's calm down. It just has a stuffed nose. So, you know, when we first become parents, everything is just so, you know, unreal, and you have never experienced those things before, and so of course, it's going to be a huge transition for you becoming a mom. Okay, so let's talk about those ups and downs. Some days you're going to feel like a superhero. You can get everything done. You feel like you could, you know, stop betraying from hitting your kid, and other days you might feel completely out of that. And that's because motherhood isn't just about raising a baby, it's about navigating your own growth as a parent. It's okay to feel both joy and frustrations, and I can tell you that I feel both these things on a regular basis, every single day, several times a day.
And lastly, but not at all, least, join a mom community. Find your community. Find people who you can't commiserate with, people who don't judge, people who are willing to just listen and be you know, there for you. Okay, so one really important thing to know is that, amidst the challenges, there are going to be some really amazing moments in motherhood. The first time you know your baby holds your little finger, or they make those little sounds. You know, it's really special, and it's not going to be all rosy, but there are going to be a lot, a lot of beautiful moments. Thank you so much for spending time with me today, and remember motherhood is a journey, and you're not alone on this path. If today's episode resonated with you, I love for you to share it with another mom or mom to be and remember you are doing an amazing job, even on the hard days until next time and take care of yourself.
