Hello plant people! We were so thrilled to share this week’s episode with our beloved listeners that we decided to pop in a day earlier than our usual Friday releases for the second episode of our new series, Everything You Didn’t Know About Herbalism!🌿

Today’s episode features the profoundly knowledgeable and true seasoned pro within the world of herbalism, wildcrafting, and medicine making, Lisa Ganora. Lisa joins us for an invaluable educational episode on herbal constituents. What they are, why they matter, and how understanding them can deepen our relationship with the botanicals surrounding us. We’ll deep dive into Lisa’s process-based approach to medicine making and how she combines science, tradition, and spirit in her modern herbalism practice.

As always, we thank you for joining us for a new type of botanical adventure and are honored to have you join us on this ride. Remember, we want to hear from you! Your questions, ideas, and who you want to hear from will be invaluable to this new series. So please email us at podcast@mountainroseherbs.com to let us know what problem you want us to tackle next within the vast world of herbalism.

Lisa Ganora began studying herbal medicine in 1985. After practicing as a Wise Woman tradition community herbalist, wildcrafter, and medicine-maker for a decade, she returned to school at UNCA and graduated summa cum laude with multiple awards in biology and chemistry. After graduation, she focused on exploring herbal constituents (pharmacognosy and phytochemistry) in the context of Western clinical herbalism and Vitalist therapeutics. In addition to founding and directing the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism from 2012-2020 and managing Elderberry’s Farm (a Rocky Mountain Herbal Education Center in Paonia, CO), Lisa formerly served as Adjunct Professor of Pharmacognosy at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, and has lectured and taught classes internationally at numerous schools and conferences. She is the author of Herbal Constituents, 2nd Ed., a popular textbook on herbal phytochemistry for natural health practitioners, which is used by schools and universities worldwide. Lisa also teaches online, focusing on advanced herbal pharmacy (Make Better Medicine series) and a comprehensive two-semester course on Herbal Constituents. In addition, she consults for product development and formulation.
