Manage episode 435690992 series 2630494
Today, my guest is Sabrina Little. Sabrina is a five time national champion. She’s a mom, she’s a professor of philosophy, she’s a trail and ultra runner, a world silver medalist and the author of the book, The Examined Runner.
This is Sabrina’s second time on the podcast! If you want to hear a little bit more about her backstory, she was episode 346 of this podcast in November of 2021, where we talked about philosophy, running and motherhood. Today we catch up on what’s going on in her life. She’s now the mom of two. When we first talked, I think she was fresh off her first baby. Since then she’s written the book The Examined Runner, Why Good People Make Better Runners, is a deep dive into the conversation of how striving to be a better person make you a better runner. It’s a really great book and I loved reading it. She looks at key ideas and virtue ethics. It is one of those books where you underline, you take notes, you read it little by little and really try to understand it. And in this conversation, I loved getting inside Sabrina’s brain a little bit more.
What we talked about:
2:50- Catching up with Sabrina
6:30- Where running is fitting into her life right now
10:50- The process of writing The Examined Runner
15:00- Working on our “character flaws”
21:50- Happy feelings aren’t always the goal
24:50- Finding purpose
32:25- Envy
33:40- Coaching and combining her philosophy knowledge with coaching
38:05- Prioritizing where you spend your time
