Jargon Busting Psychotherapy
Manage episode 376780551 series 3507054
Psychotherapy. It's a term that conjures up images of Freud's couch, yet it's evolved far beyond that.
In this episode, I help you get to grips with psychotherapy's complexities, breaking down technical jargon and explaining therapy types for children and young people. We take a look at the difference between psychological and psychiatric formulation and the benefits individual and group therapy can have.
From psychodynamic psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, play therapy, art therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), I’ll share the workings of these therapies, the average duration for each and what you can expect should you participate in one of these therapy methods.
