THIS EPISODE discusses the problem of stress affecting primary care staff and the ways to achieve wellbeing.
Working in healthcare can be so rewarding and yet stress in the workplace is so common. If you haven't been affected yourself, you surely know someone who has. Individually and collectively we all need to understand stress and wellbeing better so that we can contribute to making our workplaces more enjoyable, improve productivity and prevent burnout.
Munir Adam speaks with Dr Nirja Joshi to learn about this topic, discussing:

  • what we mean by Stress, Wellbeing and Burnout;
  • how to recognise it,
  • why it's so common,
  • why the situation is quite desperate in the NHS,
  • what strategies we can employ at work,
  • what changes we can make ourselves,
  • and where to turn for help.

Dr Nirja Joshi is a GP and co-founder of The WorkWell Doctors who help to support the wellbeing of NHS staff. Nirja also works as a dance teacher and volunteers for a charity, Duty to Care, who help provide therapy to NHS workers.
This episode was produced in partnership with North-East London Training Hub.
