In this episode, I'm sitting down with Charlene Madden who has admittedly spent most of her life living in a state of darkness. Her transformational healing journey began when she was just 2 days away from taking her own life. She is now a mother of 3 children and a Women's Empowerment Coach who is dedicated to spreading her message of moving from hopelessness to purpose with the world.

***We cover a lot of big, heavy topics in this episode, including suicidal ideation and sexual abuse of children. You may want to grab headphones for this one if you have little ears nearby.***

In this episode you’ll learn:

  • How Charlene’s unhealed traumatic childhood showed up in her parenting as she struggled with her mental health
  • The workshop that she attended that literally saved Charlene’s life
  • The truth that’s contained in coping mechanisms, even when they are sometimes toxic and we can peel apart those layers for ourselves
  • Exploring the idea of forgiveness and grace for ourselves as parents, and for our own parents for doing the best they could with the tools they had
  • Why it’s important to feel all the anger, betrayal, grief, sadness, etc. that comes up on the path of healing and the strength of character that represents
  • The importance of learning to sit with discomfort - both for ourselves and also for our kids

A radical mother is a woman poised in her power ready to disrupt cycles of generational trauma running through her family like wildfire. She's working to improve her life, the lives of her children, and shape the landscape of her community. If that's you - you're in the right place.
This podcast is designed to connect you with resources, inspiration, and the reminder that you are not alone as you embark on your journey of radical mothering.
I’m your host Christa Bevan and I’m a nervous system educator for cycle breaker moms as well as a certified TRE (trauma releasing exercises) provider, and a trauma-informed yoga instructor. And of course, a fellow Radical Mother. My approach to this work blends neuroscience backed tools and heart-centered intuition.
