35. 💔 Feeling under-appreciated in friendships: RSD & boundaries
Manage episode 455118608 series 3569206
🎄 HAPPY DECEMBER BEAUTIFUL ADHD BESTIES!
Our gorgeous listener from the UK opens the episode for us and we're taking wrong exits and accidentally lying at the drive through.
A big thank you to everyone who tagged us in your Spotify wrapped 🥹❤️
DILEMMA: “I feel under appreciated in my friendship and I can’t stop the RSD”
We discuss:
- Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) in friendships and how it affects our relationships.
- How self-trust in ADHD can be challenging but is key to managing emotional responses.
- The difficulty of letting go of RSD completely while learning to create mental space and teach our brains to pause the emotional reactions.
- Building confidence in our ability to assess social interactions and not allowing others to have control over our emotional responses.
IREGGY SEGGY:
We play the very simply named “PMDDDestroy” where Grace tests Tara’s Premenstrual rage with some of the most rage-inducing concepts you can think of. Think: clapping when the plane lands, Shepherd avocados and 49-bazillion unread/irrelevant messages in the group chat.
RECS:
- Grace recommends a great game to entertain your kids at dinner (that doubles as a way to document your kids/family life and special memories)
- Tara is recommending 'pétillant naturel' sparkling wine ("pet nat"), specifically Dirt Temple’s Pet Nat
Our brains are melting 🫠 with the INSANITY that is the end of year in Australia. The school year is finishing, with rehearsals, concerts, teacher gifts, awards and reports right before Christmas, followed by a 6 week holiday break with our kids home in the sweltering heat. It’s madness. Sooo, we are having a break from our Thurs eps until January... BUT we will continue posting weekly episodes on Patreon, so sign up here if you’re gonna get FOMO (or request as a Xmas gift!)
Sending so so much love and we can't WAIT to be back in your GORGEOUS little neurodivergent ears in January!
Tara & Grace xx
Don't RSD x 10000
